DD is leaving nursery soon .
When she first started the Nursery decided they were going to keep chickens and she was involved with them from the beginning.
She is now in love with them (especially Bertha) and will be sad to leave them.

In a moment of madness I have promised we can buy them a gift as she got upset at the thought of leaving them but I haven't a clue.

What do you buy for a chicken?

My only idea is sign for their coop but any other ideas would be brilliant.

TIA.

Chickens like food. Raisins or corn on the cob would go down very well Or, if you want something more permanent, an old CD can be hung up as a mirror for them to peck at. Your DD could decorate the back.

A handful of corn, a small lettuce, a bunch of dandelion leaves tied with string so they can be hung up for the chickens to peck.

Mealworms - they adore them.

saltyseadog · 10/06/2010 09:46

Where do you get mealworms from porridge? Do pet shops sell them?

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 10/06/2010 10:04

A huge fat juicy cabbage to hang in the coop! They love them!

YY - live ones tho - mine don't go for the dried variety - fussy buggers.

nickelbabe · 10/06/2010 17:26

Mealworms - dried or fresh.

Chickens will sell their little feathered souls for mealworms
