Hey up, remember me and my two Silkies, Silver & Star?
I was off to buy either one or two more earlier in the year! Well, cut a verrrrrrrry long story short, I only just got around to it. I wasn't meant to be buying chickens at all mind!
Took children to a local visitor's farm today and just casually enquired if they ever sell POL's. So the lady gets all giddy and tells me she just brought two Light Sussex POL's in from home. She'd been rearing them there and had brought them in to work this morning to mix them with the rest of farm flock but she was a bit mithered about them because they'd been pamperedhome-reared!
So I wandered out to the cow shed to take a look and there they were - all huddled in a corner with a dirty great big cow nurse-maiding them!
£10 each and she was beside herself with relief because a lunatic chicken lover like herself was taking them and she knew I'd spoil them!
Will take a few pics in a bit and add to profile. They're very little - no wattles etc yet but she reckons on them being about 3 months old.
Now all I have to hope is they do the trick with Silver & Star and help keep each company whilst the other goes broody. Maybe poor old Silver's crown will thicken up a bit now, if Star's busy keeping the two little ones in order
Must think of a way of breaking the news to DH too -hmmmmm
