Omlet Cube - how many can I really have in it?

It says 10 but is that "10 at the absolute max" or is that "nice for 10". Will I be ok with 8 (they are bantams) or would it be better to have fewer. And if I have too few will they get cold in winter?

about to make the call to the breeder!

it's 10 at the "omg how much does this cube look like a TARDIS?".

if it says 10 then realistically you are looking at 6-8 large chickens.

so, yes, 8 bantams should be fine, because they're about 2/3 the size of a big one.

I have 7 in mine and there is masses of room. I do not have the run though, mine are in a flight protection pen which is 12x10 and have a large fenced off area where they free range too.

My hens are very large now as they are over 2 years old, lovely and fluffy!

Still undecided. had ordered 8 bantams but they will be in the 3m run until 4 every day (fr at weekends). I'm thinking it might be slightly cramped. I might have to reduce to 6 since dh will kill me if i order another run extension!

The limiting factor is the run size. Guidelines that I've seen are 1 meter squared per chicken if you can't free range a lot. The extra height in the cube run means you can add some more space but I really wouldn't have more than 6 in the extended run.

They need to be able to get away from each other when they squabble.

What breeds do you have, Riven?

I think 4 medium hybrids are equivalent to 5-6 bantams. I would probably still stick some perches in the cube run though to ensure they have plenty of stuff to do especially in the winter when their only fr time will be at weekends.

Definitely depends on the run size
I have nine that are a mix of sizes and theres plenty of space for them

No sorry nine in a cube with a larger walk-in run
