Chicken Breeders Northern Ireland?

We are looking for a some chickens (4) but want them as pets as well as for eggs, so would maybe like a couple of hybrids and a couple of purebreeds. (wer are thinking Orphingtons/Maran/light sussex and any sort of hybrids)

Does anyone know of any breeders in NI, preferably Couty Down or nearish to here, please?

Have a look here Midori ... www.irishfowl.com/irish-poultry-breeders.php

This is the best website I found when looking for my chickens. Found someone in Fermanagh which wasn't too far for me but there are plenty around Down ... I rang a few breeders (one or two didn't sound that great) and took it from there.

Keep us posted!

Thankyou. We had a few breeders recommended to us by the man who built our chicken house in the end and have gone with two of them, although we couldn't get any Orpingtons.

I collected three thirteen week old pullets today, a lght sussex, a maran and a bluebell and am hoping to collect two one year old buff sussex hens tomorrow or Monday evening.

They are being boring so far, but have only been here an hour or so and were barn kept before, so I think they are a bit shell shocked to be outside, although they are in their run/house for now. It's exciting!

Oh wow ... congratulations & enjoy! They're lovely breeds ... I really wanted a Light Sussex but ended up with Buff - and she's still lovely - along with an Orp (who looks enormous longside her) and a teeny New Hamp Red. They'll soon settle and keep you amused ... ours have been exploring the garden this last two days and loving it.

midori999 theres a man at the Temple just outside Saintfield on the main road who has a selection of chickens and then theres another man up the Glenavy Road, Lisburn. Hes got a extensive selection of chickens & bantys. We bought from both with no complaints. Smile
