Hens started eating their own eggs - anyone managed to successfully stop this?

We have tried making the hen house as dark as possible for laying the eggs, and they have a large run plus are let out into the allotment every couple of days so don't think they are doing it out of boredom. Any ideas or tips to stop this would be gratefully received - we are used to getting 3 eggs a day and are missing them

one of mine ate her own and her friends eggs. In the end it was stone eggs that stopped her (one peck and she decided it wasn't worth it)

previously I tried injecting hot mustard into eggs but she loved the taste.

thanks for the tip - will give it a go. DH has tried mixing the egg with hot chilli sauce but like yours with the mustard they liked the taste
