out of these areas, where will my hens be happiest?

1. Flat grassy area right next to house. Could see them from the kitchen. Gets mixed sun and shade but no shrubs etc just grass. Smell potentially a drawback I'm thinking?? (them not us!)

1. large shady area, could give them more space but not as much direct sun.

1. very large semi wooded area right at bottom of garden far from house. More risk of foxes. Mixed sun and shade.

Any advice would be welcomed!

What happened to 3?

I'd go with 4 and build them a large secure run.

Ours love hiding amongst the shrubs at this time of year,they were all originally jungle fowl so love trees and bushes.

4, let them out of their house after sun up, and put them to bed well before sun set. That helps keep them safe from foxes.
