Hi just getting a chicken house - can only describe it as the rabbit hutch type? Got it of freecycle. how many do you think we could keep in this - was hoping for 3 and how big a run attachedd to it? Any help advice wouldbe great as i am a complete novice!

Are you going to let them free-range,outside the run??
If so,at a push 4,if there is room for 4 to perch inside the coop.If not 2,you don't really want to cram them in as they like room to flap their wings & have their own space.
Layers pelletts are best to feed them & any kitchen scraps apart from meat & raw potato.
I'm presuming the coop is wood,so watch out for red mites, dust the nesting box with some red mite powder, now & again.
You must shut them up at night, because of foxes.
The Omlet website is fab for information & help.
Happy chicken keeping!

thanks. Probably not outside the run as have dogs and plant based garden - so don't know if all safe for chickens. I heard better to have 3 not 2? Don't know if this is right or not - should have room for a large run though.

We had two for a year or so,they were fine, two will be ok if you get them together.Pecking order problems are well known amongst chicken keepers!!We introduced another two after one died & it took awhile for them to sort out who went where in the pecking order!!
Beware,if you let them out into your garden(dogs permitting)they will wreck it!!
Our dog is scared of them it's very funny!!
