Introducing new inmates to the (small) flock

I have smeared garlic over the two new pols and all 4 of the current inhabitants of the henhouse and shut them all up together at dusk. I have no other option.

What will happen?

Will we wake up to a bloodbath?

garlic, never heard of that

The garlic is an old wives tale meant to reduce their sense of smell (or make them all smell the same?)

Well, the new ones are still alive, cowering in the corner! I let the others out as usual and left the new ones inside to give them a rest from the others, let them get to the food and drink unmolested.

Come on, girls, settle in!

well, they won't be attacked by vampires, that's for sure.

Keep an eye on it. Glad they didn't kill each other - mind tried to! I currently have two tiny pullets (14 weeks) in spare accomodation and will combine the flock when they're large enough to take care of themselves.

Letting the big ones out and keeping the littlies in to eat and drink and settle looks a good plan. My big bullies wouldn't let the previous new two out to eat food on the last flock 'blend' that I did. They're best mates now.

Might go and put an extra water container in so the biggies can't guard the only one.

feed them treats across the divide, so they'll associate nice things with each other. Honest.

In the day I'm letting the originals out so the newies can get a break.
