Sneezing chickens - what do i do?

Started keeping chickens early this year. Got a few new additions to our flock last week, and they are sneezing. They seem to be acting like normal, eating, jumping on my shoulder, playing chicken rugby for slugs.

I have kept them all on organic food etc. I've started giving them a daily porridge with cod liver oil and mineral supplement to see if that helps boost their immune systems (i am a bit soft ).

Don't want to put them on antibiotics unless necessary - but do you think it is necessary? Or shall i see if the porridge mix helps after a few days? Advice from you experienced MN chicken-mothers gratefully received!

Put a little poultry spice in your porrige, that's what I do for mine in winter.

I have a sneezer too, she does this really funny high pitched squeeky noise - she's had it for a while - established flock - none of the others sneezing. She hasn't been sneezing since winter started and I started her on ps, but it maybe something else I use diatom earth in house in summer to help repel mites/lice that is very floaty and makes me sneeze too.

I've been through the twice daily oral abs last year, not much fun when you have 9 chooks.

If it's only sneezing (no discharge from nostrils, rattly breathing or gasping) then you could try some citracidal in their water. Chickens do suffer with colds, but just in case it is anything more serious (mycoplasma can start with sneezing) I would keep them away from your other birds until the symptoms disappear. Stress often brings on 'poorly' symptoms, and new birds often 'dip' a bit.

Ours have sneezed this winter too. However, they are still laying so I think they are still heathy. They are not happy though, they hate this weather

I would second poultry spice in the winter, mix it in their porridge.
