now they were sold as hens they are 8 weeks old, how can I tell. If I hear it crow in morning I will take it back. Not sure if it was one in distance and don`t want to look silly taking it back and it turns out to be a hen.

we have one that crows occassionally and she is definitely a hen!
DS asks was it a bantam (ours is, and she's a bully!)

an ornamental hen and has become a real bully to the others

hens make a squawking crowing sound usually when they're having some sort of kerfuffle... you know one is on the nesting box the other wants to get in. It can be loud and quite indignant sounding. I'm sure it probably is a hen.
Is it's tail plummage the same as the others? any sign of a prominent wattle or comb?
