How long to eggs stay fresh?

I am fairly new to chicken keeping and I am curious to know how long eggs stay fresh. I have read conflicting advice on the internet, saying anywhere up to 3 months if they are kept in the fridge. I know about the test in a bowl of water, but can anyone tell me the general guideline?

We buy ours but almost straight from the chickens bottom!

We've not kept them longer than 6 weeks in fridge but they seem ok.

I did read somewhere if you cracked them you could freeze them.....

Frankly we love eggs and they never last long enough to tell.

Gosh, ages and ages for me and I don't even keep them in the fridge.

I don't know for sure, but would be reluctant to eat them beyond 2-3 weeks.
