well was v teampted as we have a bonkers broody hen, but lots of stuff going on in the garden so thoughtit unwise.

I have 2 pekins, 2 bantam wyandottes and 2 silkies under a broody, due on the 11th. candled yesterday and they are fertile as far as I can tell although I am far from an expert.

we are expecting 6 light sussex on 16th June under a broody as we speak.. and all looking pretty good do far, as in she hasn't kicked any out yet.. will candle at the weekend .. but the broody is a really good one and she tends to just sort things out herself :0

Torch not strong enough. Boo. Will ask my RL hen-friend if she has a candler.

.. you can do it with a light bulb..and a loo roll inner to concetrate the light at the egg.. and your hands.. but it's a bit of a faff imo. lol.

I borrowed a maglit of my mum, is perfect, just cup yur hands to9 make a funnel.

RL hen-friend doesn't bother candling - she just waits and hopes.
