I want to get some chickens but dont know where to start. please help?

i live in a built up area and i want to get some chickens. i have room in my garden for a coop with two chickens in, but dont know what to get, what chickens to get that will lay plenty and dont make too much noise and basically got no idea where to start. could someone give me some pointers please???

I'd suggest that you don't get a rooster. Otherwise, hens don't make much noise unless, either they're trying to push out a huge egg, or they've found some extra-yummy food and want all the other hens to know

Ex-battery hens are great (we have six), and they only cost about a quid each. On average, they lay one egg a day. When they're new from the farm, the eggs are just like supermarket ones (and large), but after some TLC and a more varied diet, the eggs taste superb!
