A cat has just murdered my last chicken who I'd had for 5 years

I'm gutted . Can't even find the body - the neighbour next door came round and said it happened while I was taking dd to school.

I can't believe it, I only let her out 2 minutes before I left and she's been fine all this time.

I am so upset, she was hilarious

DD is going to be so upset.

Eek! Glad we've decided not to let our chickens do proper free-ranging now! We have loads of cats in our neighbourhood - big ones too.

blimey I'm surprised.
It's very rare ime for cats to take on chickens. None of mine ever had and they would happily go for pheasants.
Sorry

I've got 4 and the chicken chased them up and down the garden all day (and the dog )

Just this big meany tabby from down the road who was not intimidated.

I'm still sad. I just hope she didn't suffer. And she had a good life - she was 5 - she left me a lovely blue egg this morning (which I can't bear to eat)

Perfect excuse to shoot the cat in my books. Chickens are brilliant. Cats are just annoying. I'm so PC, it hurts.

How'd DD take the news?

LauriefairycakeeatsCupid · 24/03/2009 20:36

she cried, said we ought to 'sue' the owners

and then said she was going to throw water at the cat when she saw it

and then she cried some more

I feel sorry for the dog - he has been sniffing round the garden all day looking for her

Right, tomorrow, scour the shops for a Super Soaker water gun thing and give it to her when she gets home. Does no harm to the cat but will help to keep the sodding thing away from your garden.

Poor dog as well.
