Chicken keepers

Meet others keeping chickens on our Mumsnet Chicken forum.

I want an Eglu Cube, I can afford a cardboard box; is there a compromise?

And is so what is it?

I need it to be reasonably easily moved - DH is getting older & I have a bad back

I want easy maintenance

For 2 or 3 bantams maybe 4

ATM a converted compost bin is looking good

Look on the practical poultry forum, they have loads of info and advice, you might even get a second hand one off their - i did

I think a cube would be huge for 4 bantams, never mind 2. How about and Eglu? Not sure what size they are, but they're cheaper.

I've just got a cube, chickens aren't in it yet as am still struggling to get it built properly. There are huge gaps along the back and sides and it leaks. Omlet have gven me advice how to adjust it and am still trying to sort it.

But there are lots of threads on the Omlet forums about leakng cubes which has put me off a bit to be honest.

It certainly looks like it will be easy to clean.

I also have a min-dell from Smiths Sectional Buildings. Out of all the wooden houses I've had it is the easiest to clean out. But its definetly a 2-person job to move it as it is fairly heavy.

I agree - but I need it to be very easy to move

I am cogitating atm

You could always get some wheels from here and then put them on a wooden house.

wheels are good

I like that idea - Thanks
