Snow: My birds went back into their house and perched all day.

I have posted before about the daft bints just standing out in the rain all day and not even sheltering under the house.
Well today was obviously too much for them, they came out for an hour or so then just went back in and roosted all day.
I threw them some scraps at around 4pm which they came out and ate, then went straight back in.
At last, showing some sense.

Mine have been inside their house alot today too, they've also been under the house and under the shelter, they're not very impressed with the white stuff!

mine seem to love it, they have really clean legs now.

Mine spent a lot of time lurking in their house. One was brave and ventured up the garden and I watched her perching on a garden chair obviously trying to work out how to get down without landing in the snow In the end she just had to be brave and take the plunge - she didn't like it though.

Mine lurked in their house mostly making cross sqwawking noises.

At one stay they did venture out and took it in turns to sit on the windowledge peering in at me in the kitchen. They kept tapping with their beaks to get my attention.

They then couldn't work out how to get back to their house without landing in the snow. I love 'em so much I lifted them off the ledges and put them back in to their house.

Feel sorry for them though as they must have been bored today.

awwww. I put a shower curtain over the run on hensington palace. They preferred to get their tootsies cold on the snow and come out free ranging.

Cat could not cope at all. She spent the entire day stalking snowflakes and acting more strangely than usual. Cat2 spent the day asleep inside - smart!

MarmadukeScarlet · 04/02/2009 10:06

On Mon 2 came out, took a look at the white stuff and went back. They stayed in for some while!

The pen has a roof but it had blown in through the mesh sides, obviously the outdoor pen has no roof!

Ours are very hacked off and have spent all day in the carport, trying to get into the kitchen. One did hop in,as I opened the door whilst mopping the floor, and was very pleased with herself. The rest of them sat there making a hideous cawing sound and pecking on the kitchen door.

MrsWalton · 07/02/2009 13:48

Ours have spent most of the week stood in a row on the ramp up to the house.

I cleared it of snow so they wouldn't slip, and thats as far as they have ventured outside since Monday.

fryalot · 07/02/2009 13:54

I dug them a path from the house into the garden so they could come out.

They come out, look around then go straight back in again.

They keep looking at me as if they're thinking "can't you do something about this????"
