s**t all over it. We tried all sorts of fences, barriers,... but they're like commando chickens and get around and through them. The only thing they ever do on the decking is poo. There's nothing to scratch, eat, play with,... The most anoying thing is thaty they've got a lovely grassy area 3 times the size of our decking to scratch around in. So why bother with the decking??
Now that I'm pregnant wiping away the chicken poo all the time is getting to me AND it's really embarrasing when we get visitors and they see our lovely decking covered in poo.

Oooh don't have any solutions for you I'm afraid. Apart from hosing the decking off every couple of days? Bit easier than wiping.

The only thing I can think that makes the decking attractive is maybe tiny insects in the wood that are easy to get to for them? Don't know really.

The amount of poo is a rather unfortunate side effect of chook keeping isn't it. Sympathies.

Hi. I used to hose the decking down, but found that sweeping is quicker and less cold on my hands in this weather.
It's amazing how much poo such small creatures can create, they're worse than babies really. It's even worse when my dh decides to make carot juice and gives them the left over pulp, because it gives them runny orange poo. I keep telling him not to give them so much carrot!
