this sprin,
I am looking into incubators and brooders. I think I will also need another coop, hoping I can get a really cheep one and integrate them later, although i was thinking I may hatch some silkies which wold be Ok in a small run on there own wouldnt they.
So what do I need to think about.
I have found an incubator and a brooder that is cheap and looks OK, will have to look around for cops so if anyone knows of anywhere link away.
I am also fairly sure that my friends husband would be happy to sort our (and probably eat any cockrels i get.

Not a clue BUT if you do go down the Silkie route and you have too many, I will buy a couple off you!

OOh. I hope someone comes along with some great tips soon.

There are a few threads about hatching in this topic, YLB. Have to had a gander at them?

There's some links for different poultry forums kicking about on here as well.

Should just add, I'm here to hold your hand if you do decide to go ahead. I know nothing worthwhile about harching eggs but I do a nice line in cheering from the sidelines and handing round sweet tea in a crisis

Bear in mind silkie meat is black and pretty unappetising looking.

You'll also need feeders drinkers, heat lamp etc

Good luck if you do decide to go ahead. I love hatching

I am actually vege so it wouldnt be me doing the eting, other thought is some blue or green layers. I have in true my style researched everything to within an inch of life itself.
the only thing to work out is how I can afford another coop and where it would go in my less than ample garden.

Thanks Doodle! I have mostly read very quickly over hatching posts in the past because they didn't really apply to me. I shall have a look back though.
Sockmonster I too love to research everything possible in as much detail as possible
We did have some legbars which were lovely. They laid large blue/green eggs. If white eggs interset you too leghorns are a lovely chicken to have.
