My chickens arrived today! My first-ever chickens . They have already been named Delilah, Dorcas and Busy Lizzie, and are asleep in their Ark under an apple tree. I feel positively bucolic but very nervous.....don't think I should have started reading the Problems page in the henkeeping book

Anway, am so excited i just had to share - sorry

Oooh brilliant! They're great and very addictive. I find them really entertaining to watch. Mine are dead nosy and are always trying to get into the kitchen.

Don't be nervous, they are dead easy to look after and very low maintenance (my kind of pet ).

Have just been on line buying loads of pesticides and a first aid-kit - do I need to lighten up?

Well I'm not one to talk as the neighbours think I am mad. I am always fussing over my girls, watching them, feeding them, cleaning them out, talking to them in chickeny type clucks, etc etc

But I do not have a first aid kit, is it for you or the chickens!?

What sort have you got by the way? Mine are bog standard ginger hybrids (warrens). But I love 'em. They lay a great sized tasty egg a day. Yum.

I have very basic hybrid '57s - one grey with a slightly lacy effect, one brown and one creamy cooured - they all lay pale brown eggs
