I was given the two small black bantams as week old chicks. they lay smallish white eggs

I bought the speckled things @8 weeks old and was told they are a type of bantam but they are getting quite big?
they are about 12 weeks now

can anyone shed any light?

just curious

have put a not very good pic off my phone in my photos bit

The speckled ones look a bit like Marans to me but they're usually quite big . The bantams look like they might be a kind of Araucan cross - we had one that looked very similar and laid white eggs.

How old are the black bantams? The speckled ones look huge! So if they're all the same age then perhaps your speckled ones are hens and not bantams. They do look like cuckoo marked Marans - you'll know for sure in 6 weeks or so if the eggs are very dark brown.

And my knowledge of white-egg laying black bantams is non-existent I'm afraid!

I have a cuckoo Maran, but it is brown and white barred - they are speckledy but in a ordered fashion so appear barred.

It doesn't lay that dark brown eggs - my hybrid speckledy and daisybelle/black pearl lay darker.

It is huge and lay huge eggs - the smallest being 68g.

have added a new pic of them
they are very cheeky and come and sit in my conservatory and peck at the window

the black bantams are about a year old and the speckled things 16weeks ish

the bantams have taken to games of hide and seek with the laying of eggs

my kids love it having to try and find them
the speckled thing are not laying yet i dont think
