DD with itchy scalp, cannot see why, could it be chicken related?

My 2yo dd has an itchy scalp, there is no sign of any 'beasties' or flaky scalp, i keep thinking it may be something to do with our 4 hens.
Would i clearly see with naked eye any beasties the hens may carry?
Just can't think what else it may be.

Any help would be appreciated.

mites? may sound like an odd question but does she stick her head in the chicken house (e.g. to see if there are any eggs)? If there are mites, they are darned quick at jumping on to any new warm beings. I only had to put my arm in to pick up eggs and I'd have an itchy arm for 10 mins afterwards. Mites are very small so you may not spot them, especially newly-hatched ones. They don't like human blood though so they jump off or die after 10-15 mins. If she is itching contantly it is unlikely to be that.
