space per bantam

Quick question. We currently have two bantams which we thought were both girls - but due to the activities I caught them at this evening there may have been a chicken sexing error at the farm.

So we're thinking of replacing the boy and getting a couple more while we're at it so we're up to 4 girlies.

But my parents are worrying that the run isn't big enough for 4 of them.

Does anyone know the suggested amount of space per Bantam? Had a look on the internet and nothing seemed to answer this question.

Thanks

N

are they going to be in the run all the time, or are you lucky enough to be able to free range them a bit without fear of foxes?
if in the run all the time, i dunno exactly... but one figure i have in my head for stocking rates for a free ranger house is 1 square foot per bird.
another figure i have is that the omlet cube suggests that an extended cube run is ok for up to 6 birds ( approx 1m x 0.5m per bird i think)...

They'll be in the run all the time - while we don't have foxes we do have a lot of local cats who quite fancy a chicken snack!

The current run is 5ft long by 2ft wide by 4ft tall and the house bit is 2ft by 2ft by 2ft....
