Jersey Giants

Has anyone got some of these? Are they as good all rounders as some of the sites on google suggest? I'm ultimately looking for a nice breed that lays a decent amount of eggs, but that will also make a good meal once egg production tails off (I know older chickens = tougher, but they'd go in curry/stew etc)

Have you already asked on the Poultry Forum? - I've noticed several Jersey Giant owners there.

My book says they're quite good layers as well as being a super-heavy table bird! And they can weigh up to 13lbs!! So low perches I think!

Posted on there too, but after as much info I can, since they are no small undertaking!
Apparently a good cross is JG x light sussex as they lay better and are sex linked!
