The Incubator is on, and I have my eggs

now what? I've got the incubator warming up as per instructions, and I'm going to attempt incubation with one well filled, adding more water on day 18. I have a few really stupid questions - I have a corti 25 incubator.. which way do I put the eggs in (assuming it turns its self left to right) and I don't have to then do anything to the incubator except check the water level do i?

Sorry, I don't know anything about the Corti - you could ask on the Practical Poultry Forum. I googled a picture of the Corti and the eggs seem to be lying on their long sides - which is how mine go in the R-Com incubator. As long as the humidity stays around 45% then the water should be fine but adding more at day 18 sounds about right.

As a general tip, put a cross (only use pencil) on one side of each egg so you can see whether they're turning over. They won't all turn perfectly every time but as long as some of the crosses have moved you'll know it's working. If the eggs are very dark brown and the pencil doesn't show up, you could probably use chalk though obviously it'll rub off quite quickly.

Good luck!

Thanks

I have them in, and despite an initial are they being turned panic, they are all safe. We shall see how I get on!
