So, six out of six Ebay eggs are clear, should I ask for my money back?

Hi all, I bought six Barbu d'Anvers eggs from Ebay and put them in my (v basic) incubator along with 3 Barbu d'Uccle eggs from my own chook. All of the d'Anvers eggs have candled clear at 3 and six days, some with obvious bacterial rings, while all 3 of Coco's eggs are fertile.

Now, all six Ebay eggs had very porous shells and I was dubious that any would be fertile, but the seller has since told me that she is getting 80-90% fertility from the same eggs. I was very happy with the packaging and the eggs were clean. So should I ask for a refund on the eggs (but not the postage costs)?

The eggs were 'normally' clean - I don't think they had been washed. It was the porosity of the shells that is my biggest complaint - the more porous the greater the chance of bacteria passing through the shell, which happened with at least 2 and possibly 4 eggs. Having said that, for £8 I'm not sure I can be bothered with the possible arguements that may ensue if I ask for a refund.

I'd at least report back that all eggs were infertile and had bacterial rings. They may offer a refund. They should really, that's appalling odds, even if they were sent in good faith. Have you heard the ebay story about the beautiful blue Araucana eggs? They all hatched out as ducklings!

Have you tried the small ads in Practical Poultry/Smallholder or the classifieds on the online practical poultry forum? They might be more reliable (and no doubt more expensive).

and @ duck eggs sold as araucana eggs.

I've actually just got some Old English Game banties from an auction so I shall just concentrate on hatching out some more Barbu d'Uccles for now.

Well, my Marilyn Manson was an ebay egg and no more looks like a frizzle than fly in the air.
She would not look like a frizzle even if I gave her a perm so to ebay eggs.
