He is an Indian or Cornish Game Bird Cock. He is making friends with the Sasso chicks (he is 9 weeks old). He is beautiful, has a purple sheen and the biggest, fattest yellow legs ever seen.

Will try and do a photo later.

I love a nice new cock

PMSL PFNM

He has been named. DS3 has decided he shall be Neville, known as Nev for short.

DS1 called the other rooster Alastair, I have no idea where they get these names from.

He is very friendly, I put the other chicks to bed, they take a bit of rounding up and coaxing in but Nev trotted over, stood at my feet and waited to be picked up. Bless.

He is already very heavy.

arf arf at Nev and his fat yellow legs.

tortoiseSHELL · 12/06/2008 14:47

I like Alastair for a name! And Nev is great too.

dilbertina · 12/06/2008 20:16

I can't believe I've checked twice to see if there are any photos of Nev!

And I've just spent 1/2 hour trying to train bloody thick chickens how to work a treadle feeder.

And my current bed-time reading is a catalogue of exciting poultry equipment.

I think I may need treatment soon.

MehgaLegs · 12/06/2008 20:30

Nev is now on my profile

My camera won't work so used my phone hence pic is crappola but you get the general idea of just how lovely he is.

Oh he's splendid!

Archie has just been out in the sling with me to check on broody and shut the chicks and main henhouse up. He yelled blue bloody murder and now all the hens are flapping about and making that awful growling noise! Broody OK though. But I think I'll do the birds on my own in future!

MehgaLegs · 12/06/2008 20:50

Mine always screamed in the sling.

I think I have lost one of my Isa Browns to the fox this afternoon. Watched the fox prowling the field at about 6.30, all the chickens stood around my legs. Decided there and then to put them all away but only had 7 hens. Hope she's hiding up a tree soemwhere.

Nev is beautiful but my Sassos are a bit freaked by his tallness.
