Because...there are lots of us lovely chicken keepers on MN, and we didn't have anywhere to post, and it was really confusing as chickens went into 3 different topics, and chickens are cool!

SoupDragon · 13/04/2008 22:06

There are lots of Dragons on Mumsnet too but there isn't a Dragons topic.

Toothache · 13/04/2008 22:07

okaaaaaay...

backs nervously away from mad chicken woman

3 topics? Why not in pets?

KatyMac · 13/04/2008 22:07

But it should be small holding or good life or something to include goats/allotments/rabbits etc imo

Cos they get eaten - most people don't eat the cat

tortoiseSHELL · 13/04/2008 22:10

Careful or I will wave a chicken in your face.....

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 13/04/2008 22:37

Because it's popular. And cliquey.

mh - so true about pekins. And araucana's only lay blue eggs if they're fed lavender from Provence that's been crushed by the feet of virgins.

arf & toenail clippings.

I think I fall in the sensible and happy ground that lies halfway between the two!

SoupDragon · 14/04/2008 11:01

Rabbits, KatyMac?? Do people keep rabbits for eating? Other than people on farms and such like...

KatyMac · 14/04/2008 11:38

You mean people on farms and such like don't use MN?

But why isn't there a "guinea pig keepers" section? Or a "rabbit keepers" one?

MehgaLegs · 14/04/2008 11:45

Because there's a pets section UQD.

UnquietDad · 14/04/2008 11:49

Are chickens not pets? [dim]

Ledodgy · 14/04/2008 11:50

PMSL at this section.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 14/04/2008 11:53

Not if you eat them UQD. And quite a lot of us do. It's more for smallholders.

MehgaLegs · 14/04/2008 11:54

Well, mine aren't. Yes they are loved and cared for but ultimately they are food and food producers.

UnquietDad · 14/04/2008 12:18

bwaaark
