OOh lovely! I could happily live in some of that duck and goose housing

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 11/04/2008 21:59

Great link - I'm looking into a new field shelter and they don't charge the earth to put the damned thing up for me.

Some of those chicken arks come with 9 or 15ft runs - fab. And it's not all horrendously expensive.

GentleOtter · 11/04/2008 22:10

GentleOtter · 11/04/2008 22:12

PrincessPeaHead · 11/04/2008 22:15

stripey - was your Smiths chicken house good quality and apart from small run was the house big enough for the number of birds stated?

Because I think I want the Thicket as my 'meat bird house'. 12-18 birds(apparently) and I'd have the 3ft extension. £690 delivered and built. It needs to be sturdy though as it will be at least 3 or 4 acres away from the house (and us and dog etc).

squidler · 20/04/2008 22:00

these are very lovely

My three live in a wooden wendy house, but I am building a new house/run for them at the moment. But I would recommend wendy house - easy to get into to clean and collect, and looks cute too.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 21/04/2008 16:59

Mehgalegs - I have The Dell from that first link. Don't really use it now, although my broody is in it at the moment.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 21/04/2008 17:00

Sorry, its the mini dell I've got. It is very nice and the quality is fantastic. Would recommend Smiths to anyone.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 21/04/2008 17:05

Duchess - just noticed your question.

When I bought the mini-dell it said on the website for 4-6 birds and I would have disagreed with that. But notice they have revised their opinion now and put 2-4 birds which I would agree with. Would say the mini-dell is fine (house wise) for 4 birds.

Some people would say the run size is as well, but I prefer them to have more space.

When I placed my order with Smiths I queried whether it was really ok for 6 birds and the girl on the phone said she believed it would nly be suitable for 4. She was very helpful and knew the products well and was honest. I believe its a family firm and she was the daughter. I also haggled 10% of the price by telling them I couldn't afford the full price and they threw in free assemby. Though I don't think there was much assembly to do as dh said it took them about 20mins.
