DH has just dispatched my lovely old rooster. I knew it was planned just not so soon. I have been weeping since tea time.

We have two new ones. They are only babies and have just started crowing. When they crow they sound like DS3 shouting and I keep going to the back door to see what he has done.

Still weepy. DH said it had to be done as nowhere for new roosters to go. They now have a flock each.

They are very child friendly, our friends' daughter (9) raised them from chicks and they can be stroked.

Poor old Eb, I shall miss his crazy "look at me ladies" rooster dance.

Still you've got 2 youngsters coming up.

I had no idea that new cockerels started to crow so young. One of our three that hatched seven weeks ago has started doing a sort of rusty out-of-practice crowing noise
