apart from the lovely eggs!

I love watching them, they make me smile, though sometimes I do despair when they do daft things, I love watching them run, they look so tucked in, and chasing grapes is a good comedy moment (it is hen football you know).

I love the broken knicker elastic run that they do and when they jump to catch midges.
The funny wee singing/purring noise when they are settling at night is sweet too.

aefondkiss · 28/03/2008 10:29

yes, I like the sound of them settling in, murmuring to each other too gentleotter.

I like it when kebab comes up to me and cocks her head to stare at me. and she croons when I carry her around.

ska · 28/03/2008 10:45

cooing, almost like purring is good. they lay eggs and they seem to love me! my dd adores them too and i love that they give her that

geekgirl · 28/03/2008 10:50

I love the cooing, the way they talk to you and yes that quizzicial cocked-headed crooning is lovely!
Also really enjoy seeing them interact with each other, they're always chatting and the cockerel is usually such a gentleman - calling the ladies over when he's found something tasty etc.

I miss my hens! The guy who's supposed to build my foxproof run still hasn't even been to give me a quote

GentleOtter · 28/03/2008 13:52

Build your own geekgirl! Honestly it is not that difficult and we will all be here to support you. If I can make a henrun then anyone can.

I don't love the way they keep digging up all the bluebell bulbs in my garden. Not keen on the smell either. All i really love about mine is the supply of eggs.
Sorry. Just having an anti-hen day.

GentleOtter · 29/03/2008 19:27

Yes, they can be toerags sometimes. Don't you love the fat cheeked bits on this here chicken

redwino · 29/03/2008 19:51

It looks like it should wear a monocle and smoke a pipe!

aefondkiss · 29/03/2008 20:41
