My hybrid who has been a perfect Layer for two years has suddenly gone off cycle, eggbound one day then lays a softshelled egg, then eggbound then lays a perfect egg, then eggbound..... the other two are fine.

She is ok otherwise, eating, active, etc

They all are mite and lice free also.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Also up to date with worming though she seems to get diorrhea after it so add some chicken squits drops to water to help.

Am going to do a pooh test to check for worms again but it's weird as only she is off cycle?

Hi
Apple Cider Vinegar a good 2 tablespoons in their water will help with the upset stomach. My chickens have not kicked right back in to egg laying just yet, the weathers been funny and they need the light - so I'd give that a bit of time, i think that will sort itself out.

As for the soft shells, are you giving them grit with oyster shell mixed in that helps a lot ( you can get it of amazon/pets at home) its upping the protein, my secret cheat to get them laying well is cheese - I buy cheap Bree from lidl its about 80p and just hand feed them little bits, they love it and it really helped my hybrid settle in to laying. I know it sounds ridiculous but it works.
Also dig up some worms if my hens if my hens have been helping me in the garden the next day I'm always guaranteed a good few eggs.

Hope that helps a little x
