My quail have a big water tub, too big to freeze if it's above -2C, with a small lip, which freezes if it's 0C.
Any idea how I can keep the lip water? The birds are under cover (run is covered in polytunnel plastic) and so the run is always a good degree warmer than outside.
I'm just really uncomfortable about them being a bit thirsty between the water freezing overnight and me going out there in the morning.
And, is it true that giving them hot food makes it harder for them to keep warm? That they are better with extra corn and mealworms? Rather than lovely warm porridge lovingly made with water and chopped raisins and apple
They are quite spoiled...
