Mealworms

Hoping someone knowledgeable can advise - when we got our hens a few weeks ago I purchased a load of supplies from the breeder, including a tub of mealworms. The chickens obviously love these and they’re about the only things they can be persuaded back into the run with (apart from the kid’s leftover watermelon!). But when I’ve just looked at purchasing some more it seems like they shouldn’t be fed to hens? And the bhwt website even says it’s illegal to feed the hens kitchen scraps . Is this true? And is there really a difference if the veggies come straight out the veggie plot or via my kids’ plates?!

Sorry - my main question is: if you feed your chickens mealworms where do you get them from?

Good quality treats with seeds is better, garvo is very good

The issue with mealworms is if they come from china, which most cheap ones do, they are raised on meat

You can feed them raw veg and fruit but thats about it, mine arent even interested in it anyway, spinach is the only thing they like so i stick to chicken food and treats!
