Storing feed

Hi, our chickens are coming on Sunday and I’m very excited, having been waiting for a long time for them! Just getting everything sorted - can I ask how you store the feed? We have layers pellets and corn coming in 20kg bags - what size bins do I need for them? Any recommendations or practical tips welcome!

These would be perfect for keeping it dry and away from vermin www.amazon.co.uk/Maelson-Food-Storage-20kg-Capacity/dp/B0054PMI42?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Thank you, if I keep the food bins in the garage do I need to use metal ones to keep the rats away?

I use normal black plastic bins with lids, in shed, main thing is keeping it dry

A pile of feed sacks at the back of an unused pigsty (probably half a ton of assorted feeds for various things).

Two cats with deep rooted psychological issues, a selection of various traps, and an air rifle keep the pests at bay.

I usually buy 3 or 4 sacks at a time, open a couple into a normal sized plastic bin and stack the other against the wall. All in the garage. Never had any problems, and have definately had rats around the hen area at times.

I use one similar to the one linked. Mine was named as a dog food bin. Been going strong for 11 years.
