Should I wait till the spring now?

I’ve just moved to a house where I can finally get chickens, I’ve wanted them for years.

But... I know nothing about them and wondered if I’m better off waiting till next year.

Can anyone recommend books or websites etc?

This completely depends on how busy you are and what your set up will be. Also, if you have any holidays planned as you need to factor in chicken sitters? I wouldn't say you need to wait until Spring necessarily.

We had a run built by a handyman and bought a plastic Green Frog coop (sorry, the app won't let me do links). Started with 4 POL and then graduated to rescues. The ladies just free range in the garden nowadays. They are such fun - you won't regret it!!

Facebook pages are very useful for a wealth of information. I'm on Ex-Battery Hens Forum, BHWT and Fresh Start for Hens but there will be loads more. Join a few and enjoy chicken chat!!
