Are treadle feeders worth it?

Would you recommend a treadle feeder? I'm picking my hens up at the weekend so I would like to get one before then if so! I'm already worried about rats/mice as we have lots of fields around us.

But then the lady who I got the coop from (also lived in the countryside) said she left the feeders out at night and never had any issues.. so I'm not sure!

We've got this sort of feeder for ours, plus a water container

Ours were cheaper though from our local shop!!

We've also got a stand to suspend the water from as the little sods kept tipping it and emptying the water out!!

@willowsmumsy Thank you! I might purchase one of those as they look more user friendly for my hens. Do you remove the feeder at night? Or are they rodent safe?

We've got an Eglu and run and leave the chickens to it. We haven't had a problem with rodents in the run, and we're quite rural. We've only had trouble with rodents where the food is stored!

Really like my treadle feeder as will hold loads and is totally watertight so only top up every few weeks. Took a bit of training to get them used to it but they soon got there,

Am a bit shocked though as just looked up my original order which I paid £39 last year and the price has gone up dramatically:
