Can’t help with chicks I’m afraid, but something else to consider is ‘growers’. We got 5 growers - around 8-10 weeks old I think and already sexed. They’re easy to look as they’re outside in the normal coop / run. Just need to feed them growers pellets rather than layers pellets.

With chicks you would need a heat lamp and unless you get certain breeds you won't know whether they are male or female. With growers they are generally sexed and not so long to wait for eggs.

I’ve got 2 week old chicks we hatched ourselves - they are pretty much a full time job!
They’re in a crate in the dining room at the moment and let out several times a day to run round and flap/fly. They do seem to need interaction throughout the day - we put them to bed earlier and they were screeching so I went back and they all hopped onto my arm to fall asleep!
