Why don't 'my' eggs peel like shop-bought ones??

Just that really - I'm partial to an egg mayo sandwich (using my girls' eggs) but they are so hard to peel - half the egg comes away with the shell once I've boiled them!
Anybody know why this is, and can it be prevented??

You need to put them in cold water for five mins before peeling them - the egg then shrinks away from the shell and that annoying white film. You might need to refresh the water to keep it cold if the eggs warm it up. And make sure you time the five minutes!

Fresh eggs are impossible to peel!

Hard boiled eggs: place in cold water to cool them down fast. Then cut them in half and scoop out each half with a spoon like you would a kiwi fruit.

They don’t peel because they are much much fresher than shop eggs

I saw an egg thing where you crack them into it and then cook them either hard boiled or soft. I laughed at it but it might solve your problem. I do cold water but if you are in a hurry then the above might work especially for hard boiled. I did think it would be handy for picnics.

I put baking soda in the water when I boil them. Shells come right off

Once they’re finished boiling, run them instantly under cold water for 30 secs. It’s shocks the peel away from the egg and makes them easy to peel but doesn’t affect the temp of the egg
