Hi everyone we collected two rescue hens for our second hand coop yesterday.

Great excitement to announce that we have already had one egg!!!
Not sure what breed they are but they do seem pretty noisy... or chatty!
Question is, the run we have with our eglu classic doesn't seem to have the fox proof skirting at the front. Is this a Bad Thing? We do have foxes in our area so trying to figure out what we can do 🙄

You could buy a piece of weldmesh, cut it to size (wire cutters or secauters) and either buy some of the eglu clips or just wire it on and then peg down - I use Rock pegs but you can again buy eglu ones. Diy places or garden centres for weld mesh a metre panel at Wickes is £5.99

Welcome to the wonderful world of chicken keeping! Sounds like your girls are already feeling at home.
You could bury a bit of chicken wire into the ground to stop them digging under but I've never had that problem and we get fox visits daily. Mostly, they're looking to catch them roaming free so I'm careful to keep tabs on the chickens and lock them in the walk-in run early evening ( about 8pm).

I have 4 chickens at the moment. I use an Eglu go up plus 3 metre run attached to a walk in run with a bigger netting run attached but then let them completely free range in the daytime when we're home.
