Eglu Cube and mites!

I love my cube. However, I have had a persistent mite problem this summer despite weekly deep cleans, applications of mite powder etc etc.

Finally discovered the little pests were hiding in the divider. There is a hole in the bottom and they were living inside. Anyway - all treated now. I filled the whole thing up with very hot water. Hopefully that will have fettled them!

Mites are horrible, apart from cleaning out the Eglu, I had success putting a little bit of Frontline (the thing for dogs & fleas) on each hen - you need to part the feathers on the back and squirt a little bit onto the skin. This was recommended by my vet. Throw the eggs away for a while - it will kill any mite that you miss in the clean up.
