Would this be suitable for two chickens?

Does this seem like a reasonable price?

It says it's suitable form2 to 3 birds, depending on size, in the description

Methenyouplus4 · 19/08/2017 21:28

I know, but I thought it seemed rather small. I'm sure you could fit them in but not sure if it's kind/humane. It would be the only area they would have to explore (couldn't let them out as foxes etc in area).

I wouldn't unless you plan to let them free range during the day? I had a run built for my chickens allowing over 3m square per chicken, added perches and interesting things but they still get bored and start bullying each other if they don't get let out.

Will you be able to move it round the place a bit? And let the chickens out when you're at home/in the garden?

Chickens really like to be busy birds - they're always scratching around and getting into stuff. So the more floor space you can give them, the happier they will be.

MeltorPeltor · 19/08/2017 21:39

I personally wouldn't have them in something that small every day, but if you're letting them out into the garden during the day it would be okay.

Methenyouplus4 · 19/08/2017 21:52

Thank you all. Decided it is defo too small.

I think we will be better off waiting another year or so until we can afford something much bigger and pay someone to make something.

Thank you again for taking time to respond.

Having looked at it I think it would be fine for bantams, we have large fowl (warrens, olive eggers and three pure breeds) at our orchard in a 4m x 4m run with free ranging access most days to our orchard. At home we have pekin bantams (not the best layers but there are bantams with a better laying record!) who are in an open run in our fox-proof garden as if they are let out they trash the place. They have perches and enrichment within the coop and run and are handled daily as well, I also put them to work weeding the driveway sometimes, under supervision because of neighbourhood cats. 😂
