Walk-in chicken run

Hi there - just starting to research chicken runs/coops for three chickens and think we'd like a large walk-in option.

Can anyone recommend a good company/website to look at for a walk-in chicken run with built-in hen house? Thanks!

Hi, we bought a big 4m x 4m one from our chooks on eBay. Look for the 'chicken house company'. It was easy to erect and we also buried a metre of wire underneath the earth to deter foxes from digging their way in.

We have a house and walk in run from Flyte so Fancy. They are quite expensive but beautiful and definitely secure. (I think our girls might have a nicer house than us! Grin)

Thanks! Have looked at Flyte so Fancy - beautiful but far too expensive for us unfortunately. Thanks anyway though.

We got ours from here: www.gardenlife.biz/?gclid=CjwKCAjwuITNBRBFEiwA9N9YEItRO2hKXs7mFUffqxLs6m-aPb08tHuZQWjLbyvmuXsjEp8mnW0pAxoC6iAQAvD_BwE
It's very solid and no foxes have managed to get in.

Thanks Barbara - I've been looking at the ones on that site so good to hear you'd recommend them!

I think I've narrowed it down to these two:

or

They both look good. We have the weld mesh on ours which is stronger than the hex mesh. And we cover half the roof with a clear tarpaulin.

Thanks Barbara - I think we will go for that one with the weld mesh. Thanks for your help deciding :-)

The covers for the 2nd one are very expensive, I bought a few from Aldi which are sturdy ground sheets and they are great. But not sure if they still have them.

Clear tarp is also a good idea plenty of online to buy.

Hi OP,

The covered run the first poster showed you is a good idea I think and its what I would go for if I were thinking along those lines. Or take a look at Smith's Sectional Housing as they sell either covered enclosures or run panels separately you can adapt to your needs.

I don't have a covered run myself as we have shelter they can go into and there are trees in it, but the run is fenced in with 6 ft chicken wire and gates. Its secure enough to keep hens in and our dogs out, but probably wouldn't stop a fox. We've luckily never had a problem which that - probably because of our dogs.

Good luck! I'd consider having a look for second hand runs on Freecycle, Preloved or Ebay - its amazing what you can find at really reasonable prices.
