A couple of weeks ago one of our chickens went broody in the nesting box. We took advice from other chicken keepers, and chucked her out repeatedly (we've no rooster, so there are never going to be babies!)
A couple of days after that, all three of the chickens stopped laying. Before that we'd had 3 eggs a day like clockwork. They free range and have the run of our garden and field, and the neighbouring farms. We've looked, but no joy - they could be laying anywhere.
Then last night one didn't come to the coop, and we haven't seen her all day today either. Just went to put them to bed and she's still not there. I'm worried she's now sitting on a huge pile of unfertilised eggs somewhere...
There are no foxes or other predators where we live, so I don't think anything can have got her.
What can I do to find her, or coax her home??!! Or get the other 2 to start laying in the nesting box again?
