Chicken noise

I would really like some chickens. We have quite a small garden, but I do have space where I could put them and they could free range in the day as the garden is secure.

The only thing stopping me really is how noisy they are. A neighbour across the road has one. I love hearing her in the morning, she has about 10 minutes or so of being very noisy and can occasionally have other times.

I dont want to upset my neighbours, some of whom are lovely, with noisy chickens. Can you get quiet ones?

they only make noise when they lay eggs so i would imagine all chicken breeds will make proud clucking noises.

tbh 10mins is nothing. the rest of the time the only noise they make is a minimal cawing type noise.

so is 10 minutes normal? our neighbours with the chicken gets comments from their next door neighbours.

yeah, up to 10mins is normal.

if you really want chickens then get them and screw what the neighbours think.

people can't live in a silent bubble and you shouldn't restrict how you want to live. it's not like you're getting honking geese.

Just make sure you are generous in giving eggs ( but not cream eggs - ha ha) to your neighbours

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/04/2015 19:45

would absolutely do that Aridane.

maybe you are right Sanquhar. For a family with a teen we are a remarkably quiet family. much quieter than some of the neighbours
