Just lost 2 of a rescue girls to the fox Sad
It was about 5.30 this morning, we're trying to keep it from the dc until after school.
Our dog normally hears any foxes roaming around and wakes me to let her out then she will take chase. But she must of slept through most it too. One of the pegs on the electric fence had come out, probably with the ground so soft and wet.
The dog chased of the fox but we found 2 dead although no blood or broken bits, so it might have been shock? 2 were hiding near the coop and another to were hiding in other parts of the garden one missing all her tail feathers. There was a pile of feathers on the outside of the fence so must be hers.
I'm so up set, our rescue girls were lovely and each had their own personalitys.
Dc are going to be heart broken when we tell them Sad

Oh how sad. Hope the children were ok. We lost 12 to a fox on one night, one sole survivor managed to fly over the fence and hide (she was black so would have hid well in the dark). She came back v depressed two days later. She now has 11 new ex bats for company and our fence is higher. It's awful to find. We'd got away with five years without problems, it just shows you not to be complacent.
