Seriously though, if you have hatched eggs under a broody,

How many eggs did you hatch?
Did you get any cockerels?
What did you do with them?

My boys are desperate to experience hatching some eggs under one of our girls (we always have at least 1 broody ) but we couldn't keep a cockerel and I wouldn't be able to dispatch one.

I'm wary of rehoming because of cock fighting.

I bought three fertile eggs from ebay and put them under my broody hen. One never developed, one cracked and one hatched. I'm hoping it's a girl. As it's a silkie we won't be able to tell till it either starts laying or crowing. It's now eight weeks old and very cute. I think I will keep it if it is a cockerel as my neighbours are all over eighty (and very deaf).

Keep them, fatten them up and eat them. Cockerels are quite tasty.
