Dead chicken

What are you meant to do with a dead chicken?

One of ours died yesterday morning. Come evening when my husband gets home from work I look out to see him digging a VERY deep hole in the garden. He buried the chicken in it and I thought nothing of it but this morning I was thinking- aren't you meant to bag dead animals first?? Are you even allowed to bury a chicken? Please don't tell me I'm going to have to get him to dig the poor thing back up!

Apart from 'eat it', which I wouldn't do if diseased, the burying it makes sense. I would ensure to do it deep enough, to stop the fox digging it right back up.

Thanks. We think it was ill but very sudden so won't be risking eating it. The foxes haven't dug it up yet!

burying is fine, although mine just go in the green waste bin.
