Something only chicken keepers will understand! 
I have 4 girls in an eglu classic atm, they are penned off with the eglu and standard run inside the 'pen'
The pen is just 2 sides of me current boundary garden fence (7 ft, wooden) and 2 sides 4ft chicken wire wrapped around a metal pole to keep it in.
It was a desperate measure to give the chooks some separation from a toddler in love and to give the grass a chance, now everyone has their own space and it works well.
The only problem in, in order to get to the chickens for feeding, cleaning, I am having to pull some awesome gymnastics to get over the chicken wire. (We've become far too well acquainted over the past few weeks, me and the fence!)
So, the options are thus;
Take the chicken wire bodge job down and then either,
- Find someone (which is far easier said than done) to come and construct a wooden frame around the eglu pod, like a large walk in run, with a door. - this is proving difficult, I just cannot find anyone to do it and the space is a very odd shape so conventional, premade ones aren't an option.
We're not DIY handy people and with all the best intentions in the world, we're likely to cock it up if we do it ourselves.
- Buy a much bigger coop with walkin run attached - I've looked at these and we can only afford a wooden one, I'd love a cube but it's just too much and we never get any on eBay or gumtree, loads of classic eglu but no cubes.
We went with plastic because I'm worried about redmite and the eglu is so easy to clean and keep relatively hygienic for the kids, so wooden would worry me from that aspect.
Any ideas, I keep going out there and just staring at the space, DP thinks I've gone mad.
Obviously something bigger will mean more chickens.
