Could magpie's be destroying the eggs i put out for sale?

In the past week I've had 4 boxes of eggs destroyed that i've had sat at the bottom of the drive for sale. At first i thought someone must have smashed them but now i'm wondering if an animal or magpie might have got at them because the last couple of times it's like big holes have been pecked in the sides and the cardboard egg boxes chewed through.

Any ideas? also, how can i protect them? - my next-door neighbour puts a box out every day and has never had has this problem.

Yes. It could well be magpies. Can you cover the eggs up?

thanks Bunbaker - i guess i'll have to, although i still want people driving past to know there's eggs for sale! Guess a sign is in order.

What about a perspex box?

Wouldn't they get a bit hot in a Perspex box?

Our egg lady puts here's by the gate in a lidded plastic box, they seem fine.

Between the local cats, magpies and the crows, they'd last 30 seconds, otherwise.

Thanks - have got a large see-through box, seems to be doing the trick so far.
