So I am the idiot who purchased black rock eggs on ebay. A dozen of them for at least £15. I am the idiot who sat them in 2 incubators for days on end. 2 hatched. 2. Then I put them under the lamp and watched my electricity meter whizz round like I'm running a tanning business. The chicks get bigger but I puzzle why they are not black in colour. i decide maybe they will feather up in black so i stick them under a broody black rock hen. They take. So here I am weeks down the line. My problem is this. They are fecking broiler hens! Damn it! I have been scammed! Grrrrr

Stop being racist Wink

They will still be lovely chickens for you to take care of, they will still give you good eggs

If you've been given actual broiler chickens - as in, those designed to put on weight so fast that they can be slaughtered at 8 weeks, then I'm afraid that a long and happy life is not on the cards for them.

You're going to need to restrict the food intake quite significantly (which, of course, means keeping them separate) and then hoping for the best. This indicates that they won't make it past a year old, if you're lucky www.backyardchickens.com/t/524549/broiler-chickens-as-pets

Well look on the bright side ... you'll have a couple of delicious Sunday lunches not far away! Smile. Also, regarding your electricity usage, how about investing in one of these brooders - I love mine! Kept them under it in the corner of the sitting room until they totally stank the place out and my family mutinied

With the chicks, I don't know what to say, I've never had the problem of wrong breed, buying hatching eggs on Ebay, but have had fertility issues - I guess being bumped about in the post does them no good at all. How about leave negative feedback for the seller, if you haven't already left a feedback comment?
